PCC MISSION MOMENTS I am lucky that I joined this group”
“Poverty is reduced in my family,” shares Tickiness, smiling. “My grandchildren are going to school and my life has changed.” This is something Tickiness never thought she would say, having spent most of her life burdened by poverty. After adopting her orphaned grandchildren, she could barely afford food, let alone the school fees. But a village savings and loans group through a Presbyterian World Service & Development-supported program in her Malawian community has been a source of hope. Tickiness has been accessing small loans and saving with other group members. With the money she has saved, Tickiness can afford to send her grandchildren to school and is improving her family’s living conditions. “This project is a blessing.” PWS&D helps families rise above poverty
