PCC MISSION MOMENTS Youth in action to end hunger

Last winter, the compassionate Grade 4-6 class at St. Andrew’s Hespeler Presbyterian Church in Cambridge, ON, took on Presbyterian World Service & Development’s Farming for the Future Sunday School Challenge to raise money for a program that helps food insecure families in rural Guatemala. At a bake sale at the church, the class made $350 in sales on top of the $400 they raised through the collection of pop cans! The children donated the proceeds to PWS&D with the hope of helping vulnerable families get what they need to grow maize, vegetables and fruit trees for years to come. By working together, small actions can help families overcome challenges and build brighter futures.

PCC MISSION MOMENTS Cultivating healthy communities

In her community in Nicaragua, Sandra believed she was feeding her children wholesome, nutritious food. But the chips and soda that made up the bulk of their diets led to illness and delays in growth. Presbyterian World Service & Development supported community promoters are helping families like Sandra’s improve their nutrition by discussing the benefits of locally grown, fresh produce and helping establish household gardens. . Sandra now understands that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables is important for a healthy future. Today, her children are energetic and healthy. For Sandra, this project is the beginning of a brighter future for her family and community. “Our mission is to share what we have learned so that our community will prosper with healthy and active families.”  PWS&D supports food security and nutrition

PCC MISSION MOMENTS Hope in the inner city

Edmonton Urban Native Ministry is one of eight Native ministries in Canada supported by gifts to Presbyterians Sharing. The ministry serves people of Aboriginal background in Edmonton’s inner city. It seeks to meet the social and spiritual needs of people struggling with complex issues of addiction, exploitation, violence, homelessness and poverty. Providing practical support, creating awareness and promoting healing initiatives are priorities. EUNM collaborates with various churches to provide children’s ministry programs, VBS and summer camp opportunities. The history of the relationship between Aboriginal People and The Presbyterian Church in Canada has been complex and often difficult. The PCC is committed to walking with Aboriginal Peoples on a journey toward healing and reconciliation. Presbyterians Sharing shines a light in the inner city

With the support of Presbyterian World Service & Development, Francisco Coll is providing vulnerable boys and girls with a proper education in a safe environment. Maria Herrera, a student at Francisco Coll, dreams of graduating from university and becoming an administrator. Her

mother doesn’t have a reliable income, but with support from PWS&D, she can continue going to the school she loves.
