YOUR ELDER IS THERE TO HELP – The Presbyterian Church is organised around Elders. Elders are those folks elected by the congregation and to help with the leadership and spiritual care of the congregation. They are elected and ordained to serve the members and adherents of the congregation. If you have a need, for help, for prayer, for whatever call your elder. If you don’t know who your elder is check the list on the wall on the way down to the lower hall. If your name is not there let the pastor know. We are here to help, but can’t do that if we do not know of your needs.
3rd MEN’S BREAKFAST – On the first Saturday of each month, Saturday September 1st at 9:00 AM, the men of Langley Presbyterian are invited to come to breakfast at the church, bring your friends and family. Tom and Dennis will prepare eggs, sausages and pancakes. There will be a nominal $3 cost for the food. We will also share some soul food in the form of a devotional time and have a short business meeting. If you would like to help with preparing for these events see Tom or Dennis. Please mark your calendar.
THE NEXT SESSION meeting is on Tuesday September 11 at 6:30.
CONGREGATIONAL PICNIC – We plan to hold our annual picnic in our church backyard on Sunday June 24 right after church services. The church will provide hamburgers and hot dogs plus condiments and cold drinks. Please put your name on the sign up sheet at the back of the church if you would like to bring a salad or desert item. Please bring your lawn chairs so we don’t have to carry chairs out from the church hall. There will be activities for the children and chauffeur rides to the picnic site for those not able to climb up the hill from the parking lot.
THE THIRD MEETING OF THE LPC SMALL GROUP MINISTRY We are happy to announce that the third meeting of the LPC small group ministry will be held on Saturday June 23 at 9:30 AM, here at the church. We will be exploring the theme of our group which will be, “Spiritual formation is the process of being formed into the image of Christ, for others”. If the idea of spiritual formation in a small group setting interests you please attend. The meeting will end by 11:30 AM.
ALEX MCGREGOR – Alex’s Memorial Service will be held at LPC on June 29 at 1:00 PM.
PCC MISSION MOMENTS A history of Canadian mission in Taiwan
History matters! Gifts to Presbyterians Sharing support Louise Gamble as she works with our partner church, the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan, to transcribe and translate reports and correspondence of the Canadian North Formosa Mission. These documents are records of the development of the Christian Church in North Formosa, from the point of view of its missionaries. It includes over 7,000 documents from 1868 to 1923. Louise works in partnership with her talented and dedicated Taiwanese colleague, Mr. James Chen. They are working on the third and final series (1915–1923), which documents events during WWI as well as issues such as Canadian church union and the growing theological tensions in North America. When finished, this series will likely be over 1500 pages!
