The Harvest Is Still Plentiful
This Sunday’s service centers on Matthew 9:35–10:8 as we reflect on Jesus' compassion for the crowds and His call to those who would continue His work.
As Jesus travelled through towns and villages, teaching, preaching, and healing, He looked upon the people with deep compassion, seeing that they were "harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd." He then reminded His disciples that "the harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few," calling them to pray and to participate in God's mission of bringing hope and healing to the world.
Through this passage, we are reminded that Christ still sees the needs of our communities and continues to call ordinary people to share His love, mercy, and good news. The harvest remains plentiful, and God's work continues through those willing to follow His leading.
"The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest."
